The Roman empire took centuries to collapse. Some people refused to accept it centuries after it had happened. There must have been another minority near the beginning, but one which accepted it before others knew it had started. Who were those people? What was it like to be uselessly pre-lucid in a world of bread and circuses?

Most importantly, did they dance?

We will never know. The Romans were too smart to let them have access to the internet.
